A Little Summer Fun

A few weekends ago, Kim and I went to visit her brother Jon and his girlfriend Beth in Maryland. Jon has a place right on the Potomac River, a jet ski and a boat, basically all the ingredients for a great weekend playing a relaxing which is exactly what we did. We all had a great time and after we all got our share of the jet ski, Jon went out alone to pretty much tear it up. He threw that thing all around and pushed it to it’s limit. It was awesome to watch and I got a few great pics of all the action. I really love the first image above where you can see the swirling pattern of water flying off the bottom of the jet ski, which is almost completely out of the water. The day after the jet ski fun, we all hopped on the boat and took a trip to a little island called Shark Tooth Island. We drove the boat right up on the sand, had lunch and just relaxed in the sun. It was a perfect day and an awesome weekend and I hope we get to do it again soon.

It was a perfect sunny day, and we had our own little private beach!

Steve Skateboarding

A good friend and photographer Steve who owns Intrigue Photography went out last week to try to get some different cool pictures of him skateboarding in front of his new BMW Z4 Roadster. I used to have a Z3 convertable (I still have it it just doesn’t run) so I really dig this car. Our main goal was to try to use the flashes off camera outside and make some interesting lighting. I think we achieved it. It was hot as hell that day so we didn’t do too much and we didn’t have a ton of time so we didn’t travel to any cool locations, that will be next time. Here are a few of the shots that we got and I’ll post more when we go again.

Florida Wind Tunnel

As I mentioned in the last post, I was going to try to post some video clips of the wind tunnel. Here is the first clip and I may have more to come, I’m not sure. I’m so busy right now with just catching up on stuff, so hopefully I’ll get some time to play with more video. I will have some photos from my sisters wedding and some more trash the dress posts coming soon.

Off to Florida

I’m packing up to be on my way to Florida for a little vacation time and to photograph my sisters wedding. It should be a great time and kim and I are going to have a blast I’m sure. I’ll have lots to post when I get back so check back here in a week.

Skydiving Competition in Wildwood NJ

A couple of years ago I was into skydiving. It basically got to expensive for me to continue, but I will get back to it one day. It’s something that will never leave me and something I will always want to get back into. If you’ve never done it I highly recommend at least trying it once. It’s well worth it. The following photos are from a “Swoop competition” in Wildwood, NJ. Basically the skydivers fly their parachutes through a corse on the ground at high speeds. Some competitions are for accuracy, some are for speed, and some are for style. Some of the course was over the beach and on part was over a man-made pond that allowed the skydivers to pilot their canopies (parachutes) over the water and put their feet in, which is amazing to watch and a blast to photograph. Anyway, enough of me explaining, here are some of the shots from that day

WMMR Cardboard Classic

ast Friday I went to Jack Frost Mountain along with Kim to see WMMR’s Preston and Steve’s Cardboard Classic. The whole idea is to have people build sleds out of cardboard and send them down the tubing hill and watch the mayhem. It was hilarious to say the least, cardboard, people, and snowballs flying everywhere. Here are a couple of the shots and you can view my whole best of gallery here

Bar Harbor Maine Trip

This past summer, which I guess summer will be here again soon (man time goes fast) I went to Bar Harbor Maine with Kim. We just went for a long weekend and had a great time. The weather was unbelievably perfect and we had a great time. As I said in my previous post, one evening we went to the top of Cadillac Mountain to photograph the sunset and Kim with the sunset and the clouds came in real low, right above the water and made for an amazing view. It was like being on top of the world and you couldn’t see the ground, yet we weren’t really that far up in elevation. It was amazing to see and I’m so glad I had my camera and Kim. Check it out:

Taken in Bar Harbor Maine on top of Cadilac Mountain. The clouds came in low over the water and made for an incredibly dramatic view. Kim was freezing, but I think it was well worth it.

I haven’t posted in a while so I figured I’d post something quick from my Flickr page. This is a shot from a Bar Harbor Maine trip Kim and I went on this past summer. This was taken at sunset on the top of a mountain and the clouds rolled in under us, it was pretty amazing like we were on top of the world. I’ll try to post more from the trip soon.

A little color this time – Aquarium

I went to Adventure Aquarium in camden NJ over the past Christmas break along with my family and Kim. Here are a few colorful photos from that trip. It was a very challenging place to shoot, not much light some times and difficult to use a flash other times. I was able to use my fisheye lens quite a few time though, which was great, it has such a neat look. On to the images:

Trash the Dress – Motocross

I was lucky enough to have Kim along when I went to photograph Vince doing motocross last September. (You can see some of his shots here) Kim had the idea to ask her friend Emily to were a wedding dress that Kim had bought just for the purpose of doing a trash-the-dress shoot. Emily agreed and here you have it, pictures of a woman in a wedding dress at a dirt bike track, priceless. I took these in September, so I’m still working on getting caught up, but I am getting much closer. Thanks again to Vince, Emily, and Kim for such a great idea.
