A Little Summer Fun

A few weekends ago, Kim and I went to visit her brother Jon and his girlfriend Beth in Maryland. Jon has a place right on the Potomac River, a jet ski and a boat, basically all the ingredients for a great weekend playing a relaxing which is exactly what we did. We all had a great time and after we all got our share of the jet ski, Jon went out alone to pretty much tear it up. He threw that thing all around and pushed it to it’s limit. It was awesome to watch and I got a few great pics of all the action. I really love the first image above where you can see the swirling pattern of water flying off the bottom of the jet ski, which is almost completely out of the water. The day after the jet ski fun, we all hopped on the boat and took a trip to a little island called Shark Tooth Island. We drove the boat right up on the sand, had lunch and just relaxed in the sun. It was a perfect day and an awesome weekend and I hope we get to do it again soon.

It was a perfect sunny day, and we had our own little private beach!

Steve Skateboarding

A good friend and photographer Steve who owns Intrigue Photography went out last week to try to get some different cool pictures of him skateboarding in front of his new BMW Z4 Roadster. I used to have a Z3 convertable (I still have it it just doesn’t run) so I really dig this car. Our main goal was to try to use the flashes off camera outside and make some interesting lighting. I think we achieved it. It was hot as hell that day so we didn’t do too much and we didn’t have a ton of time so we didn’t travel to any cool locations, that will be next time. Here are a few of the shots that we got and I’ll post more when we go again.

Skydiving Competition in Wildwood NJ

A couple of years ago I was into skydiving. It basically got to expensive for me to continue, but I will get back to it one day. It’s something that will never leave me and something I will always want to get back into. If you’ve never done it I highly recommend at least trying it once. It’s well worth it. The following photos are from a “Swoop competition” in Wildwood, NJ. Basically the skydivers fly their parachutes through a corse on the ground at high speeds. Some competitions are for accuracy, some are for speed, and some are for style. Some of the course was over the beach and on part was over a man-made pond that allowed the skydivers to pilot their canopies (parachutes) over the water and put their feet in, which is amazing to watch and a blast to photograph. Anyway, enough of me explaining, here are some of the shots from that day

I took this shot when I was photographing Ali surfing. I talked to the guy after he came out of the water and got his email address so I could send him some shots and when I tried to email him, the address wasn’t valid. I must have wrote it down wrong and that sucks because I got this really amazing photo of him surfing, which I’m sure he would have loved to have. Oh well, maybe someone will know who he is, he was an amazing surfer.

Ali – Summer Surfing

Well at least it didn’t take me a full year to post these shots. Last summer I went to Ocean City, NJ to photograph Ali surfing. The waves weren’t the best, but the light rocked and we got some really great stuff anyway. I really dig the B&W and Duo-Tone shots, they really give a good look to a surfing picture I think. On to the shots:

Wrestling

Jon kicked ass. He was about the 7th match in the night and to be honest his team wasn’t doing so well. Then Jon got out there and beat his opponent real good. As you can see in the photos, there were a few times at least where he was just throwing the other guy around (Jon is in the white). It was another great shoot and I now have some more great photos to show. I also snapped a few quick portraits at the end, which came out really cool, I took them immediately after he finished his match as you can see and Kim was there to help me light it. The portraits really show that Jon just finished a battle.

Winter Track

Another shoot from last weekend, winter track. I went to photograph Maddie (first set of images) and Kim and I snapped a few more of some of the other runners on the track. We were at the Bennett Indoor Complex, also known as the Toms River Bubble. It’s a really neat indoor track facility. The all white roof makes for some really neat photographs and the light inside isn’t half bad at all. Maddie is a hurdler and had a great run, it was really cool to see. So onto the photos, first up – Maddie, who runs for Egg Harbor Township Eagles.

That kind of running and jumping looks way too hard to me, I really give her credit. Here are a few other shots I took along with 2 really great images from Kim

Swimming & Diving update

As promised, here are some more images from Charles and time Kyle as well. These two did a great job for Glassboro High School and I was glad I got the chance to go photograph them. The pool was awesome and had a ton of great light shining in that day, which really helped with the photographs. There were even spots where the sun was shining in on the water, which made for some really interesting effects, as you can see below. I’ll have more posts coming up with winter track and wresting.

Swimming & Diving

Well, I finally have some new pics to post. I went to Gloucester County Institute of Tech for a swim meet to photograph two Glassboro students. Charles Boltz, (who is in this post) and Kyle Banks. Kim came along and we both got a few great shots. Charles and Kyle were great and they both swim and dive, which is pretty impressive. After the swim meet Kim and I went to Toms River to photograph a winter track meet. It was a really busy yet fun Saturday. I’ll be posting some more images from both swim and track meet soon, but for now here are a couple of shots of Charles swimming and diving.
