Candice’s First Communion Portraits

As you can see from some of the photos below we certainly had fun with Candice during her portrait session this morning. My cousin Amy contacted me a while ago and asked if Kim and I would take some photos of her daughter for her first communion. I told her we had not photographed any first communion photos before but we would be happy to give it a shot. We had a lot of fun, Candice is certainly a character. She was constantly laughing and making us laugh like when she suggested “I’ll push you into the water” as I balanced over a small fountain pond to get a photo. It was a little chilly out but the sun was shining and gave us some great light and Candice was a trooper and I think we got some good pics. Below are a few of my favs.

Cat & Tim’s Wedding at Ft. Bragg

I was honored when my cousin Tim contacted me to photograph his wedding some time last year. We were always really good friends growing up and used to hang out a lot back in the day. As with most things when we became older communication became less but we still always kept in touch a few times a year. For quite a few years now Tim has been serving our country as a member of the US Army. This obviously has made it sometimes a bit more difficult to stay in touch but we managed to have a few back and forths here and there. When he first asked me Kim and I were actually booked for another wedding but thankfully they actually changed their date so we were able to go.

Cat & Tim flew Kim and I down to North Caroline this past weekend and we got to spend a couple of additional days hanging out and catching up with family which was also great. We got to tag along at the rehearsal dinner which was mildly amusing to see how nervous they were. You could definitely tell they were excited but at the same time just looking to get through it all and get to the party. As all of us who have planned a wedding can attest it can certainly be a stressful period but Cat and Tim took it all in stride and kept moving forward.

The wedding reception was at the same hotel that we were staying in so that made things really easy and Cat even got ready at the hotel. Kim and I met up with her a bit before all her girls arrived and Kim did her thing capturing all the details only the way she can (way better than me). As Cat’s mother and her bridesmaids started to arrive we had a great time photographing them while they were getting ready and I certainly enjoyed the humor (and the southern accents didn’t hurt). From the hotel Kim and I got to hop in the limo with the wedding party to head over to the Main Post Chapel at Ft. Bragg. It was a beautiful chapel and they had a short and sweet ceremony which we followed up with some family pics and some photos of Cat and Tim on the grounds outside the chapel. It was the only spot in the whole area with green grass, I still don’t know how they did that.

Again we all hopped in the limo to head back to the hotel for the reception. It was a nice change because Kim and I got to sit down and act more like guests than we normally do so it was a bit more relaxing. We still got a ton of great candid moments at the reception and overall I had a wonderful day with all the family and both Cat and Tim.

Tim, thanks so much for including me on your big day. It was really great to see you again and it’s just like the good old times hanging out with you again. Cat, it was great to see you again and even better getting to know you a bit more, even though the trip was still a little short. Thank you again for the trip and congrats to you both and we wish you a long happy life together. Now on to some photos.

Brenda & Abner Engagement

As soon as Brenda & Abner stepped in front of my camera they were having fun. They immediately started laughing, playing, and forgetting that the camera was there. I remember thinking, “this is going to be incredible” and I was right, their engagment shoot was so much fun. It was an incredibly hot afternoon, but that didn’t matter, everybody had fun and they kept going as we pushed them to take more and more pictures. I didn’t want to stop! Kim and I also did a few family portraits of their children and them. Thanks Brenda & Abner for a great shoot and I can’t wait for your wedding which is coming right up in a few weeks. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

A friend of Robin’s gave her a portrait session as a gift so she met Kim and I on the Ocean City beach with her two girls Madison and Rylee. This was actually the third try for all of us because Robin’s family had a bad luck streak of broken bones (2 I believe) that forced us to reschedule but it was completely worth the wait and I have to thank Robin for hanging in there.

I think the girls came to play so that’s exactly what we did and it turned out awesome. Robin seemed so excited that her girls were having fun. She had asked us for some not-so-posed pictures as she already had plenty of that style, we were happy to oblige. Rylee, the little one was hilarious, at one point specifically requesting that Kim take her picture and kicking me to the curb, haha, which was fine because I was able to get a few great shots of Madison then. We ended the evening with a gorgeous sunset and a few silhouettes of the girls playing in the ocean. Over all it was another great family portrait on the beach. Now on to the pics:

It’s getting close to almost two weeks since I’ve last posted here and I will be trying to remedy that this weekend. I have a wedding for Kim today and off Saturday and Sunday. Off in the sense of I’ll be trying to finish this amazing family portrait I photographed this past Wednesday. Robin and her two girls on the beach in Ocean City,
we had perfect weather,
we had perfect light,
we had perfect subjects,
we had it all.

Megan Rudy and Vince Family Portrait

Megan contacted me on Facebook, she actually went to school with my sister. Megan said she was looking for a family portrait with a focus on her son Vincent. Here is an excerpt from the email she sent me. “I would really like some good candid shots. I feel like every picture that I have is posed and planned. I really want something different – just of us having fun and doing what we normally do.” I responded with an emphatic, “that’s exactly what I like to do” and we set up a day to shoot. Kim and I went to Megan and Rudy’s lovely house in Millville NJ on a beautiful sunny day after work. We started outside and I just asked Megan and Rudy to sit in the grass and play with their son Vince. They all seemed to have so much fun and Vince was perfect, he kept smiling and laughing and he seemed to have a great time too. We wandered into the house, took some photos there and then went back outside to get a good family group of the three of them and their super cute dog Lola. Thanks Megan and Rudy for inviting us into your house and for being such a fun family to hang out with, I hope you enjoy your pictures as much as we did taking them. Onto the photos.

Family Portrait on the Beach

Yesterday afternoon Kim and I met Angela and Mike and their lovely daughter at a beach in Ocean City, NJ to photograph them all playing on the beach. Originally the weather was saying it was going to rain and possibly thunderstorm, but it turned out to be a perfect day on the beach. It wasn’t hot, the sun was out and there were barely any people on the beach at 5:30. This family was terrific also, they were all having fun and specifically their daughter was perfect. Every time I would ask the adults to look at the camera she was right there with them looking at the camera and smiling, It was really perfect. Kim was along as well and she got some amazing shots also (which are labeled below). You can really see how much fun they were all having and I think the baby’s smile says it all.

Family Portrait – (Full post)

I posted a few pics from this shoot a while ago, but here is a whole set of images from the family portrait that I photographed with Kim for KGM Expression. It was back in the fall and the kids all seemed to be having a blast. They were asking us if they could jump, and run and play and we were like “of course”, which made for some great shots.

Kim photographed her friends family portrait this past Sunday, and I got to go along and shoot too. There was a main group of 13 people and some other groups also. Kim had everybody meet at Batsto which was a perfect location for this. It was in the evening so the light was gorgeous and Batsto provides so many locations. This is one of the shots Kim took and as soon as I get a chance, I’ll post one of my shots as well. It was great to get out and shoot on such a gorgeous fall day.
